Event Recap: When they take lives, we take the street!

Representative Gerald Nadler (D-NY) and Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee joined Gays Against Guns during our march and rally in response to the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.

Murder is not convenient.

Organizing takes work.

But with the massacres that took place this weekend, Gays Against Guns sprang into action instantly, and within hours coordinated a truly powerful march and rally on an incredibly hot and sunny Sunday when everyone would have certainly rather be at the beach... and I have never been more proud to call them my family.

Besides recruiting volunteers to carry a 24 foot Gilbert Baker banner from the steps of the NY Public Library to the red steps at Duffy Square, they recruited and dressed numerous volunteers in all white to be Human Beings who are there to represent those who have lost their lives to gun violence.

"There can be no more complacency. When they take lives, we take the street! How many more have to die!"

Grateful to all the speakers including Congressman Jerry Nadler, Marti Allen - Cummings, Eric Adams, (and our very own Kevin Hertzog, Virginia Vitzthum and Maryellen Novak) who showed up with no notice and gave us the powerful heartfelt words we needed to hear. Thank you for your rage!
