GAG Joins Parkland Dad Manuel Oliver in Protest

On Sunday, September 9, 2018 Gays Against Guns joined other activists led by Parkland Dad Manuel Oliver in epic gun violence prevention demonstration. Mr. Oliver's son Joaquin, 17, was one of the 17 people killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018.
A school bus filled with students, parents, and media pull into our first stop at Spring Studios as we did a single-file protest in front of the official crowd and photographers for NYFW. We literally stopped everyone as we chanted "Hands up, don't shoot" and photographers turned from the guests to cover the kids.
Our last stop was Times Square where we had a permit to park the school bus in the center of everything. It was beyond words seeing 20 kids get off, protest, and then just fall flat to the ground in the rain doing a die-in. It's not something I think I will ever forget.
It was cold, wet, inspiring day of youth-led activism with so many groups taking part and glad GAG could have been a part of it.
