Center for American Progress studies FBI data and concludes:

A gun is stolen in the U.S. every 2 minutes
From 2012-15, 1.2 M guns were stolen from individuals and 31,500 from stores.
Stolen guns are transferred and traded in underground illegal markets and often end up used in violent crimes.
Congress needs to give the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives) the authority to require gun dealers to secure their inventory.
