Smith and Wesson Press Conference
GAG NY joined a coalition including New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, National Action Network, Judson Church, CBST, MCC NY, NYC PA , and Public Advocate Tish James at a a press conference in front of the Onmi Berkshire Place Hotel condemning the appearance of Smith & Wesson CEO James Debney at the 2016 Best Ideas Conference.
Religious leaders, activists, elected officials, and gun reform leaders all spoke about the dangerous and deadly culture of gun violence we are living in as well as the direct and deadly relationship between private equity investment (BlackRock) in gun manufacturers (Smith & Wesson).
THE GUN BUSINESS IS KILLING AMERICA.
Here is an excerpt of Kirsten Foy, from National Action Network, at the press conference.
And one from NYC Public Advocate Tish James:
Another Raid on BlackRock
After our press conference outside the Omni Berkshire Place Hotel GAG paid a visit to BlackRock where we protested in their atrium and passed out BLOOD MONEY.
During a conference call in September with Smith & Wesson in review of the company's first quarter, which ran from May 1 to July 21 (Orlando was on June 12th), JamesDebney said it was a "busy and exciting time for our company" and that the company was looking forward to the "busy buying season coming up."
Guess where much of that money will go? Yes, back the the NRA ( the gun lobby) so it can block safer gun policy and continue its stronghold on Congress.
Know that BlackRock has millions of stock invested in Smith and Wesson. Both BlackRock and Smith & Wesson are complicit in death and the culture of gun violence that plagues this country.
A Smith and Wesson AR15 was used in both San Bernardino, CA and Auoroa, CO massacres. BlackRock and Smith & Wesson are just two of the many hidden players in the Chain of Death.
